Educational opportunities
Whether you are a student teacher or a qualified teacher Act4Africa offers the opportunity to be part of a character-building adventure at the heart of African culture. You will meet the generous-spirted Ugandans and share, contribute and extend your teaching expertise and learn much more than you can imagine. It's a phenomenal opportunity to be part of an amazing team with a shared vision and undoubtedly you will make friends for life! The experience will include:
- Working in schools alongside Ugandan teachers to share ideas and experiences
- Taking small groups of very able children or children who need extra help
- Using your own skills and passion to make a difference to some of the world's poorest children
- Gaining insight into a different culture by working at the heart of the community
- Making an immediate and real impact in the lives, and future of others
- The opportunity in your time off to explore the riches of the African culture and the beautiful country
You will be based in:
- Jinja, resting on the shores of Lake Victoria
During time off at the weekends you could experience the “adrenaline rush” of white water rafting on the mighty River Nile, bungee jumping, relax by one of the hotel pools or explore the fascinating town of Jinja.
Opportunities for Health Professionals
Whether you are a medical student or a health professional on a career break or retired let us design your elective/placement to suit your level.
Placements are “tailor made” to suit your skill, expertise and interest. As an experienced deliverer of health education in Africa over many years, Act4africa is uniquely placed to understand your requirements.
All start dates are by personal arrangement and negotiable to suit your own medical speciality.
We offer you:
- Expert advice, support and briefing from our highly experienced UK team before you go out to Africa
- The knowledge that you are in safe hands with over 30 years’ experience of logistical support in Africa
- Ongoing support from our staff throughout your placement/elective
- The knowledge that by going with a registered charity you are directly supporting Act4Africa’s, grassroots, African public health projects!
You can choose to be based in either:
- Jinja, resting on the shores of Lake Victoria or
- Kasese, West Uganda - the heart of untamed rural Africa.
Both locations offer the opportunity to become totally involved in a chosen discipline and deliver the best possible medical care to patients.
