Destination Malawi

Keep me as the apple of your eye;

Chapter 11 of Destination Malawi by Chris

It's been a few months now since David and Charis Baker returned home from Malawi after serving and equipping the beautiful African communities in the villages there.

Their story is amazing, encouraging and inspiring to everyone who has ever harboured a desire to make a difference. Even the small support team in the Act4Africa office in the UK, along with the Trustees have been thrilled at what Charis and David have achieved.

All this through prayer, faith, trust, love in action and a desire to serve.

It's difficult to find the words to express our gratitude.

It's difficult to comprehend the impact they will have initiated through African generations;

"You can count the seeds in an apple, but who can count the apples in a seed?" Anon

This is what your support for our Act4Africa trainers can achieve: Sustainable. Repeatable. Effective. Life enhancing. Dignity preserving Training of African Trainers.

In truth, anything we say here about the wonderful Bakers is going to appear a little weak and two dimensional .. far better therefore that we allow you to see for yourself the fruits of their labours; their (and your) prayers; their living and active faith. Be inspired.

Thank you David and Charis

Bernard

Chapter 10 of Destination Malawi by Lydia Fernandez-Arias

A huge thank you to all those who have already donated so generously, £825 has been raised so far! However, we really need to reach our target of £1,500 so we have decided to extend the 'Get Bernard on Board' campaign until the end of July 2010. Here's a reminder of what it's all about:

As part of our campaign to reach 5 million lives in 5 years, we want to fund Bernard, a highly skilled Malawian Trainer. He will train 60 other trainers in vital skills to help enable communities to develop their capacity for delivery of a highly effective HIV/AIDS Education Project through a comprehensive network of trained volunteers - teaching Malawians how to stay safe and helping to reduce the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.

Malawi has one of the highest national HIV prevalence rates in the world. Act4Africa aims to provide dramatically different education, enabling communities to develop their capacity for delivery of a highly effective HIV/AIDS Education Project through a comprehensive network of trained volunteers.

To do all of this, we need to raise just £1,500! You can help by visiting this project on the Global Giving website to find out more and to make a donation

Malawi Training the Trainers Programme

Chapter 9 of Destination Malawi by Rob Davies

As part of our campaign to reach 5 million lives in 5 years, can you help us fund Bernard, a highly skilled Malawian Trainer, for a further year? He's already proved himself as a very successful Health Educator and Trainer, and we want to keep up the momentum! We know he can do it, because he's spent the last year doing exactly that and we need him to continue!

But for that to happen, we need to raise £1,500 to cover his salary and some of his associated costs for 12 months. With that, Bernard can train 60 other trainers in vital skills to help enable communities to develop their capacity for delivery of a highly effective HIV/AIDS Education Project through a comprehensive network of trained volunteers - teaching Malawians how to stay safe and helping to reduce the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.

Pastor Gregory Magaisa, Director of TICAD & Pastor of Mitundu Zambezi Church says now is the time! -
"The coming of Act4Africa to Malawi is the answer... we need to do something for the next generation for them to have a world without AIDS. But what can we do? The answer is here."

So, if 75-100 of us can each make a one-off donation of £10-20, we'll reach the £1,500 target! We really want to raise this money by the end of April, so that Bernard can start work on 1st May.
