UK’s leading toy inventors support Kathy’s Kindergarten

By Sarah Istephan Marketing and Fundraising Manager

We are enormously proud that Act4Africa were recently designated children’s charity at the 2020 UK Toy Inventors’ Dinner. Our thanks go to Suzanne Robinson at the multi-award winning toy and game inventors Carterbench, for nominating us. This Northwest firm have been at the forefront of the toy industry for 25 years.

Hosted at the Tower of London, in the magnificent medieval banquet hall, the dinner is an important event during the annual UK Toy Fair organised by the British Toy & Hobby Association, with many representatives from the toy manufacturing & inventor community.

The event helps raise awareness and money for a recognised children’s charity each year. This year Act4Africa’s kindergarten at Kathy’s Centre was very well supported.

Guests heard about the play-based approach to learning being introduced at Kathy’s Kindergarten and some of the challenges the local team have in sourcing appropriate toys and resources. The toy inventors in the room were fascinated and £1,832.60 was generously donated on the night. This will provide much needed funds to support the resourcing of the kindergarten.

If you think you can help provide culturally appropriate, creative play resources for Kathy’s Kindergarten, whether it be though ideas, knowledge and expertise or via donations, we’d love to hear from you. Please email us at admin@act4africa.org
