Double the Joy This Christmas: Join the Big Give Challenge with Act4Africa

Christmas is almost upon us once again, and for us at Act4Africa, it marks one of the most meaningful times of the year – a festival season where we truly feel the love, except it is doubled! We are proud to once again take part in one of the biggest online match funding campaigns in the UK – the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2025.

For one week, starting midday on 2nd December till midday on 9th December 2025, every donation you make will have double the impact on the lives of the women and children we support at our treasured Kathy’s Kindergarten located in Uganda’s Mayuge.

Confused about how it all works? Let us explain!

What is the Big Give?

Founded in 2007, the Big Give was created to make charitable giving more impactful by connecting donors to charities. It uses a fundraising method called Match Funding, where donations to a charity from the public are matched through a “match fund pot.” The funds in this pot usually come from sources like philanthropists, government bodies, and foundations.

The Big Give’s Christmas Challenge runs for 7 days, and during this time, all online donations made through the Big Give platform are doubled in real-time. If you donate £10, the donation will be doubled to £20 through the match pot, and this doubling continues till the funds in the pot run out.

How does the Big Give campaign help us?

All the funds raised go to Kathy’s Kindergarten in Mayuge, which currently hosts around 70 children from disadvantaged families for whom the school has become a safe space for learning and growth. Our aim at Kathy’s Kindergarten is to foster sustainable development through providing essential education for the children and training opportunities for the women of the area.

For the children, the primary education provided at Kathy’s Kindergarten is an essential bridge towards a brighter future. The cognitive, intellectual, and life skills taught in our classrooms lay the foundation for the children to dream bigger and reach for happy, healthy lives.

Kathy’s Kindergarten exists to break the damaging vicious cycle of inequality in Uganda by concentrating on early education. But it is also a hub for our She Leads programme, which provides life-changing vocational and livelihood training to women so that they are empowered to lead independent, fulfilling lives.

How can you get involved?

  • Donate! Every contribution helps make double the impact and goes straight to Kathy’s Kindergarten so we can provide a better environment for sustainable change. Ensure that the donation is through the Big Give website, but it MUST be done during the Big Give week from the 2nd-9th December https://donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05WS000006ElN0YAK
  • Sign up to Act4Afrcia’s newsletter. Keep an eye on our website and social media to get crucial updates regarding the campaign, as well as our other projects that you can get involved in.
  • Spread the word! Whether over a cuppa or a coffee, the more people are aware of the campaign, the larger the impact we can create together.

The festive season is centred around giving – whether it is gifts, love or time. This Christmas, you can make that spirit of giving go even further by helping us make a lasting impact – one child, one woman, one double donation at a time.
