About Us

In 2000 husband and wife Martin and Kathy Smedley founded Act4Africa. They had already witnessed Uganda’s HIV/AIDS crisis and built strong bonds with some of the local people in Uganda. They founded the charity with a deeply human approach, hoping to learn and help directly. Though we’ve grown, we remain a small, close-knit operation committed to this authentic spirit, even as we look to the future.

Act4Africa thrives through partnership between our UK team and Act4Africa Uganda, a vital local NGO. We are inclusive, welcoming all faiths and actively seeking diversity. Our guiding spirit and values directly echo our founders’ original compassion and dedication.

Respectful, compassionate, diverse, and creative, we communicate genuinely, connected to our work. Our brand values drive our culture and decisions at every level, ensuring we stay true to the ethos that began Act4Africa.
