Support Education

Only 40% of girls in Uganda attend primary school, and only 15% complete secondary education. Our projects increase girls’ access to education throughout their childhood and adolescence.

Help us continue supporting women and girls in Africa.

WE ACT FOR CHANGE

Tackling gender inequality

Our vision is to see the lives of women and girls transformed within flourishing and equal communities across Africa.
Some of the partners and donors who help us make a difference.
  • Early marriage;
  • reduced access to education;
  • less access to formal financial institutions and saving mechanisms than men;
  • limited earning potential due to the work considered appropriate for them;
  • an increased likelihood of working in less productive or profitable sectors, in low-wage or unpaid family employment, or in the informal wage sector
  • sexual and domestic violence;
  • life-long poverty and a lack of opportunities, heightening the risk of women turning to sex work or harmful relationships;
  • the inability to negotiate safe sex, leading to increased infection risks and unwanted pregnancy;
  • HIV infection through rape and abuse;
  • high-rates of teenage pregnancy, leading to unsafe abortions or increased maternal and foetal risks;
  • homelessness when widowed or diagnosed with HIV; and
  • an inability to obtain appropriate medical treatment;

We respond to these challenges through HEAL

HEALTH

We strive to combat the spread of infection, particularly HIV/Aids, and to provide communities with reliable health- and lifestyle-related clinics and education.

EDUCATION

We are committed to offering quality education and support to girls of all ages, and to influencing individuals and community leaders about the importance of female education.

LIVELIHOODS

We work to boost women’s economic participation and their ownership and control of productive assets.

We really appreciate your support for Act4Africa. Without your help, it wouldn’t be possible to continue our work in tackling gender inequality, changing lives and giving hope to women and girls in Africa.

“Thank you so much for mentoring me in the art of marketing!  I’ve had such a fun few months and learnt so much.  You’ve helped me to grow in confidence and develop lots of new skills – both of which will equip me for any career path I choose.  I’m sorry I couldn’t stay longer!”  (Ellie)
